Atlanta restaurant reviews, culinary news, and gluttonous gossip by admitted foodaholic Serina Patrick

Atlanta’s Best Burgers

This hotly debated category includes diner classics and fancier restaurant interpretations:

There Brookhaven
Newly crowned winner of Atlanta Magazine’s Best Burger Battle of 2017, There consistently ranks among our city’s best, serving a double-decker bison burger that requires a stack of napkins.

Holeman & Finch
Creating hype by serving only 24 burgers beginning at 10pm, this homage to the American classic is made with the finest ingredients including house made pickles and H & F bread. Now, of course, you can get one almost any time at H & F Burger at Ponce City Market.

Illegal Food
Gaining followers as a pop-up at Joystick Gamebar, Stephen Lingenfelter now serves his famous burger, The Hank, at his brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Virginia Highlands.

Farm Burger
Messy, delicious organic burgers.

Ann’s Snack Bar
Known for her sloppy “ghetto burgers”, watching Ann herself make your burger used to be part of the experience. (Now that Miss Ann has passed away, I’m not sure who’s doin’ the flippin’.)

Flip Burger Boutique
One of Atlanta’s first burger boutiques catering to burger snobs with fancy little burgers, fancy toppings and foie gras milkshakes. Now serving full-size versions of the same fancy little burgers

The Vortex
Little 5 Points favorite serving a large selection of specialty burgers with no substitutions; shut up and eat it.

Bocado and Bocado Burger
The original midtown location serves a well-edited menu of seasonal entrees, juicy, all-natural burgers and healthy sides like quinoa and black rice, while its casual cousin at Avalon in Alpharetta only does the burgers and sides.

The Earl
They were serving juicy, fatty burgers to tattooed rockers years before burgers were trendy, and they are still doin’ it.
