Without question, this is my favorite dessert in town! Marla Adams makes this rich French-style tart in the colder months at her popular restaurant, Babette’s Cafe’.
I usually pick up a whole tart for Christmas, however I skipped this year due to travel plans. Instead, LC and I dined at Babette’s on Valentine’s Day and shared a slice after our wonderful meal, and took another home for later. In honor of my Oma in Germany who passed away recently, I photographed the slice on one of her antique cake plates.
The chewy dried cherries that fill the crunchy almond crust are subtly tart yet sweet creating an unforgettably dense and rich dessert.
