Grindhouse Killer Burgers began as a stall at the historic Sweet Auburn Curb Market in 2009, gaining a cult following among Atlanta’s burger connoisseurs. The timing was perfect, with organic boutique burger spots like Flip and Farm Burger popping up all over town.
Grindhouse has a full bar with “Snooty Drinks” like the Killer Tomato, but what goes better with a big fat burger than an ice cold Blue Moon? Burger options are endless with a selection of favorite combinations, or guests can create their own by choosing a protein and toppings.
Although he is a Southerner through and through, LC tried the Yankee with a turkey patty topped with blue cheese, applewood bacon, grilled onions, and lettuce. I ordered the Apache made with a beef patty, topped with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, lettuce, and green chilis, plus the necessary additions of mayo and avocado.
Burgers arrive on soft potato buns wrapped in wax paper, a great way to harness all that juicy goodness. We both ordered singles, but you can make it a double! Grindhouse cooks its beef patties medium, unless they are forced to do otherwise. LC enjoyed his coleslaw side…not too much mayo. My disdain for crinkle cut fries compelled me to order onion rings for my side. I was very impressed by the thin, nicely seasoned breading that stuck to the onions rather than falling off like empty shells.
We were pleased with our burger experience at Grindhouse. In a word, it was killer.
