Coastal Crab Cakes at Illegal Food


Although Illegal Food is famous for its decadent mile-high burgers, chef and owner Steven Lingenfelter also serves up a daily selection of fine fare that will make your mouth water, and your waistline expand.

On a recent visit, deciding on a starter proved to be an arduous task, but we finally settled on the coastal crab cakes, with its enticing accompaniment of roasted corn, jalapeno and bacon “chowder”. Two thick crab meat patties were griddled and served in a shallow bowl of spicy, rich corn chowder, playfully garnished with popcorn.
