Pizza Crosta…Design Your Own Pie

Pizza CrostaAtlanta has an astonishing variety of pizza restaurants, from authentic Neapolitan pies to fast casual establishments. Pizza Crosta, located in The Prado in Sandy Springs, belongs in the latter category, offering personal pies, calzones, and salads made to order.

I was recently invited by Tori Allen PR to give it a try. LC was my guest as we sampled chicken wings, pizzas, and dessert. What goes better with pizza than Italian beer? We each ordered a Peroni, one of several beers offered on draft.
Hot Wings at Pizza Crosta
We needed that refreshment after taking a bite of the wings with fiery hot Buffalo sauce! Thankfully, we like super-spicy food so the wings were great. Mild Buffalo, tangy BBQ, and lemon pepper are also available for the less masochistic eaters.

Pizza Crosta guests are invited to design their own pies, from the type of crust and sauce to a smorgasbord of toppings. Although whole wheat and gluten-free crusts are available, I chose the traditional crust with pesto. From there I added mozzarella, ricotta, ham, sliced tomatoes, roasted onions, and black olives. The crust was thin and crispy, much like popular pies around town, but at about half the price, just $7.99 for a 10″ pizza with unlimited toppings (premium toppings cost an extra buck). Baked to order in minutes, it’s a speedy lunch alternative.
Pizza Crosta Pie
LC tried the wheat crust with spicy tomato sauce. He had a difficult time deciding among the vast array of toppings, but ended up choosing mozzarella, bacon, Italian sausage, pepperoncini, banana peppers, red and green peppers, and eggplant resulting in this neon pie! He pronounced it fantastic.

Not in the mood to design your own pie? Ten classic combinations are available to choose from. And, Pizza Crosta has a dipping station with a selection of sauces to dunk your crust in…if there is any left! I tried some of the black olive tapenade and it was terrific.
Pizza Crosta Dessert
The owner surprised us with a dessert, an oval “pizza” drizzled with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar, then cut into strips, for a fun shareable dessert.

Decor is clean and modern with an entire wall of recent works by my favorite local artist Alex Leopold (for sale!).
We were truly impressed.
