Spicy Rat Toes at Six Feet Under

My first visit to Six Feet Under was on a blazing hot Summer day. LC and I decided to check out the view of Oakland Cemetery from the rooftop deck while relaxing with an ice cold beer.

Next thing you know, we’re looking at a menu with an impressive selection of seafood…fried, baked, or steamed. There were appetizers too, like an exceptional spicy seafood gumbo served with fried okra spears.

Then we saw the spicy rat toes; whole jalapenos stuffed with shrimp, wrapped in bacon, then baked until the peppers are charred and the bacon is crisp. Suckers for punishment of the spicy variety, LC and I tried an order of three, plus one extra spicy dragon toe, a scallop stuffed habanero. Both are served with cool ranch dressing to counteract the heat, but it had little effect. Caliente!

Spicy rat toes’ fiery deliciousness make them an obvious choice for my Hot Dish roundup!
