Meat, cheese and limoncello, oh my! Luca Varuni, owner and maestro pizzaiolo of Varuni Napoli proudly debuts several additions to the restaurant including an expanded cocktail menu and the opening of Luca’s Market. Beginning winter 2014 guests are invited to the restaurant to peruse and purchase ingredients from the market and imbibe Italian-inspired libations.

“I want to share my passion for making pizza and my love for true, authentic products with my adopted city of Atlanta. The Market is an opportunity for my guests to purchase the same ingredients I use at the restaurant,” says Varuni. “The Market is just another piece to the Varuni Napoli puzzle, giving Atlanta more insight into what it means to be Italian.”

Located in a temperature-controlled glass case at the front counter, Luca’s Market provides a retail space for patrons to purchase the fresh ingredients used in popular dishes at Varuni Napoli. Guests will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of imported gourmet items including meats, cheeses, San Marzano tomatoes, olive oils and pickled items from the glass cases and select desserts and gelato from the coolers.

Specialty pre-made dishes made from Varuni family recipes such as eggplant parmesan, stuffed peppers and meatballs can also be ordered. The full menu can be found on the hanging chalk-board sign above the market and on the website. Consumers can also purchase goods online and retrieve items from the take out window on Monroe Drive.

In addition to Italian wine and beer, Varuni Napoli’s beverage program now includes several cocktails made with authentic Italian spirits and products. Menu highlights include “limoncello lemonade” with Varuni housemade limoncello, lemonata, prosecco and simple syrup; “Varuni beer” with Rammazotti, Prosecco, Coca-Cola and soda water; and “hibiscus spritz” with Prosecco and wild hibiscus candied flower. The bar also features a selection of housemade limoncello made by Luca’s brother and recent Atlanta transplant, Benedetto Varuni. The younger Varuni honors the family recipe and creates the libations in several flavors including arugula, chocolate, lemon, lime and tangerine. Guests can choose from a single shot, a flight of three or the whole bottle.
